Meet the judges of the Romantasy short story competition.

  • Paloma Barraza

    As an art historian by trade, I have extensive experience with the writing cycle, including editing. In my current role as an academic librarian, I have been a judge for the International Latino Book Awards. I primarily judge Spanish-language fiction books, ranging in all genres.

  • Casey Sperry

    I am a copyeditor with a decade of experience writing and editing for newspapers, local government, and academics. I am an avid reader and one of the founders of Archetype Editing.

  • Kelly Ragan

    I am a developmental editor and former ghostwriter and one of the founding editors of Archetype Editing.

  • Kelsey Petersen

    I work as an editor for journalism publication and have a dream of one day writing a book and working as a book editor. I read an average of 60 books a year, all fantasy and romantasy.

  • James Redmond

    Huge nerd and former newspaper reporter with a decade of experience in writing and editing. I am also the producer of a weekly narrative fantasy podcast.

  • Carissa Schrieber

    I studied English literature at the University of Alabama; I do freelance copyediting for a variety of media and content editing mostly for fiction. On a personal level I primarily write poetry, but am an avid reader of fiction and published a book review podcast with Kirsty Van Dam for a few years.
